Client: The Square

This eight foot by ten foot mural is installed at The Shops at The Square in Dublin, PA. Originally a pants factory, The Square has now been re-imagined as a “town square” and community hub. It combines beautifully curated retail spaces featuring goods from local makers along with studio and office spaces for small businesses and start ups.

The Square was in search of a new piece of public art to help unveil their new retail offerings and make their location a tourist destination. My sketch was inspired by the many ingredients and materials the makers use in their goods, along with the nature of Bucks County. I was influenced by the style of vintage apothecary and linocut designs, and eventually combined all of these into a postcard design.

Upon submitting my original watercolor sketch, it was among 20 designs that were voted on by the public to pick a final winner. After receiving the most votes on social media, I went to work adding some much needed color to the space. Bringing this mural to life, it was so much fun adding all of the little details so that all of The Square’s visitors would continue to notice something new each time they shop locally!
